We are a small collaborative team of employment law experts, working seamlessly across our client base to support employers in all aspects of the employment relationship.
We have worked with our clients for many years, enabling us to really understand their business needs and work together to find pragmatic commercial solutions to effect change where required and provide support in the ever changing employment law landscape.
We also provide expert independent legal advice to employees in receipt of settlement agreements from their employers.

Our clients are varied and include corporate entities, financial services organisations, luxury retailers, media organisations, broadcasters, independent production companies, digital marketing and publishers, PR firms, hospitality companies, law firms and barristers’ chambers, conference companies, arts organisations, and public sector bodies.
We also offer advice to employees who are leaving their current employer under a settlement agreement, whether in a redundancy situation or otherwise.

Joanne Twiss
Joanne graduated from Birmingham University with a law degree and qualified as a solicitor in 1998, specialising in employment law.
Joanne joined London media & entertainment firm Harbottle & Lewis in January 2001 and was a partner in the Employment Department managing a team of employment lawyers. Joanne co-founded Scully Twiss in March 2010 as a niche employment law firm.
In addition to advising employers on all employment law matters, Joanne has significant expertise in employment litigation and dispute resolution, having successfully managed many cases in the Employment Tribunals and the Employment Appeal Tribunal.
Joanne is also very experienced in mediation and has successfully resolved many claims by way of Judicial Mediation and ACAS early conciliation.
Joanne is particularly focused on understanding the business needs of our clients and their desired outcomes in order to provide tailored advice and practical solutions, and to create successful collaborative partnerships.

Alison Phillips
Alison graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in history.
She completed the law conversion course at City University, London, and then the Legal Practice Course at BPP in London whilst working as an adjudicator at the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Alison trained at London Chancery Lane firm Sharpe Pritchard and then qualified as a solicitor in 2010.
She joined Scully Twiss in 2011, becoming a partner in 2019.
Alison provides practical commercial advice to employer clients on the full range of employment law issues, and is highly experienced in advising on everything from discrete queries on day to day HR matters, drafting complex documentation, through to long term strategic planning and risk management.
Alison is skilled at guiding our clients through large scale consultation processes in a calm and detailed manner. She is also adept at digesting and summarising new employment law developments in order to provide clear, pragmatic advice to our clients.
